Facts on this page come from each company's public website, documentation, help center and changelog, checked on 25 October 2026. See How we compared for the method and sources.
TL;DR: Bannerbear and RenderForm both turn templates into images, PDFs and videos through an API, no-code tools and AI assistants. RenderForm costs less for plain image generation up to several thousand images per month, starts at $9, has a free account, and lets unused credits roll over. It also has an HTML/CSS template editor and an embeddable editor. Bannerbear does more with the media during and after the render: AI background removal, face detection, AI video, video with audio, voiceover and subtitles, and multi-step workflows that run in one API call. At 10,000 images per month and at the higher volumes in our cost table, Bannerbear's list price is lower. Choose RenderForm for low-cost, low-volume rendering or code-based templates. Choose Bannerbear if your pipeline needs AI editing, finished video, or higher volume.

What both products do
Before the differences, the common ground.
- Template editor with text fitting, custom fonts and a template library
- Image API with synchronous and asynchronous rendering, webhooks on completion, and a batch endpoint for many renders in one request
- PDF output from templates
- Video from templates, rendered from a timeline
- AI image generation from a prompt
- Images from a URL with query parameters, for no-code use
- Integrations with Zapier and Make, and a Figma plugin (labelled beta on RenderForm)
- MCP server, so AI assistants such as Claude can create assets
- OpenAPI file for the REST API, team members, a public status page, and a GDPR data processing agreement
If your need is "fill a template with data and get an image back", either product will do the job. The differences are in price at each volume, how you build templates, and what happens to the media around the render.
AI image editing and AI media
Both products generate AI images. RenderForm does this with an ai: prefix on an image source, using OpenAI's gpt-image-1.5. It needs the Pro plan and costs 20 extra credits per image. Bannerbear offers a choice of models (Flux, Nano Banana, GPT Image 2).
Bannerbear also applies AI to photos you supply. It can remove a photo's background in the render, crop around a face, a group or the main subject, and generate a new background from a prompt in image and animation templates. It can generate video clips with Seedance, Kling and Veo models, and Auto Animate makes an opening animation from a template's layout.
Bannerbear Image API features. Source: bannerbear.com/v5/products/image-api, captured 25 October 2026.
On RenderForm, the AI image feature can make a generic image in an image template, which you can use as a background. AI background removal, face and subject detection, and AI video generation are not listed on RenderForm's website as of October 2026. Its video templates use enter, loop and exit presets that you set by hand.
What this means: if your source images are product photos, user uploads or headshots, Bannerbear can clean and crop them in the same request that renders the final image. These tools are not listed on RenderForm's website, so with RenderForm you may need to prepare those images first in a separate tool.
Bottom line: choose Bannerbear for e-commerce catalogs, marketplace listings, and any pipeline where the input photos are not ready to use.
Video and motion
Both products render video from templates.
RenderForm renders videos of 1 to 30 seconds as MP4 or WebM. Its video page states: "Audio tracks are not supported yet and rendered videos are silent." A template can hold a Video component with a source clip that you can trim, loop or speed up, with text and image layers on top. Its timeline has named enter, loop and exit presets (for example slide, wipe, blur, typewriter, pulse and spin) with delay and easing. You can also switch an image template's format to video.
Bannerbear adds sound and post-production around the video:
- Audio: add, replace or extract audio
- AI voiceover from text, and auto subtitles with style presets, including for non-English audio
- Video tools: trim, crop, resize, join with cross-fade transitions, overlay (picture-in-picture, watermark), colour filters, slideshows, GIF previews, thumbnails and cover art
- Keyframe timeline with easing, delay and hold controls, and animatable blur
- Lottie layers, per-word text effects and animated backgrounds
- Transparent animations (MOV) to put over other video
- Animation presets through the API, and conversion of an image template into a separate animation template
Bannerbear Animation API features. Source: bannerbear.com/v5/products/animation-api, captured 25 October 2026.
AI voiceover, auto subtitles, a video join tool, Lottie layers, transparent video output and GIF previews are not listed on RenderForm's website as of October 2026. RenderForm has no dedicated video overlay tool listed; you build overlays inside a template instead.
Bottom line: both work for short, silent, templated social clips, and RenderForm has a set of named animation presets. Choose Bannerbear if your videos need sound, narration, subtitles, or editing steps after the render.
Workflows and automation
Bannerbear Workflows chain image, animation and media-tool steps behind one API endpoint. For example: render a template, add a voiceover, add subtitles, overlay an animation, then export. You build them in a visual builder, see each step's inputs and outputs in the run history, and can publish a workflow with its templates. Workflows are on the Automate plan and up.
Bannerbear Workflows features. Source: bannerbear.com/v5/products/workflow-api, captured 25 October 2026.
Bannerbear Forms are hosted, embeddable forms that create an image, animation or workflow run when someone submits them.
RenderForm connects to Zapier, Make and n8n (through a community node), so you can chain steps in those tools. It has a batch endpoint for many renders in one request, and bulk rendering from spreadsheets, including Google Sheets. It also has an Airtable extension. A built-in multi-step workflow builder and hosted forms that create an asset on submit are not listed on RenderForm's website as of October 2026.
Bannerbear has a batch endpoint of up to 100 images per request and 50+ native data-source integrations. A CSV or spreadsheet upload is not listed for Bannerbear. Bannerbear has a built-in node in n8n.
Bottom line: choose RenderForm if you already run your automation from a spreadsheet. Choose Bannerbear if producing one asset takes several processing steps and you want them in one API call.
Templates and PDF
Bannerbear gives you more control over a template once it exists:
- Version history with one-click revert, and version pinning, so a render request can name a saved template version
- Responsive templates: per-layer rules let one design render at many sizes
- Resolution scaling per render (1x to 4x)
- Multi-page PDF: merge up to 50 JPG, PNG and PDF files into one PDF
- Print tools: flatten a PDF, convert a PDF to an image, and set DPI from 72 to 600
- Text styling per render, including letter-spacing, line-height, shadow and stroke
On RenderForm, template version history, version pinning, responsive templates, multi-page PDF merging, PDF flattening and DPI settings are not listed as of October 2026. (Its render version field works as a cache key.) RenderForm sets the scale factor on the template, and documents six text properties you can change per render: text, color, font weight, font family, text background colour and text background radius. When you give a custom width and height, RenderForm crops the image from the top-left; Bannerbear resizes the template.
Bottom line: choose Bannerbear if you run one design at many sizes, need to roll back or pin template versions, or produce multi-page or print-ready PDFs.
Building templates: where RenderForm leads
HTML/CSS template editor. RenderForm lets developers build templates in HTML with custom CSS and external JavaScript, with merge tags and Handlebars helpers. An HTML template editor is not listed for Bannerbear, whose templates are layer-based.
RenderForm HTML editor. Source: renderform.io/convert-html-to-image, captured 25 October 2026.
Charts. RenderForm's template editor has charts. A chart layer is not listed in Bannerbear's current V5 editor.
Template import. RenderForm imports templates from Figma (beta), SVG, PDF and flat JPG/PNG images (beta). Bannerbear has a Figma plugin that turns frames into templates and a Sketch plugin, and it accepts SVG files as shapes.
Embedded editor. RenderForm has an iframe editor you can put in your own app, with postMessage events. Bannerbear has an embeddable editor on its older V3 platform, and it still works there. The current V5 platform does not include one.
Other conveniences. RenderForm has a render cache on Pro: an identical render returns the cached file at no credit cost for 7 days. It also lets you set the output file name and a wait time before the render, makes searchable PDFs, takes website screenshots and page-to-PDF, has a Chrome extension for social link previews, and has a results API with delete. Its site also lists a CLI. On Bannerbear, a render cache, file names, wait time, searchable PDFs and a CLI are not listed. Bannerbear's screenshot tool is documented for its V3 API only, social link previews are made with templates and URLs, and its API lists results without a delete endpoint.
Bottom line: if your team writes HTML and CSS, needs charts, imports PDFs or images as templates, or wants users to edit templates inside your app, RenderForm is the better fit.
Integrations
Both connect to Zapier and Make, and both have a Figma plugin and an MCP server.
- Bannerbear lists 50+ native data-source integrations with field mapping and write-back, including WordPress, Webflow and Ghost as data sources, plus a Sketch plugin.
- RenderForm lists an n8n community node, Google Sheets, an Airtable extension, a WordPress plugin that makes featured images for posts and pages, Mailchimp and an HTML embed.
Webflow and Ghost integrations are not listed on RenderForm's website, as of October 2026. Both products work with n8n.
Developer experience
Both have a REST API with an OpenAPI file, webhooks, a batch endpoint and an MCP server. Here is what each company states about the rest:
| Bannerbear | RenderForm | |
|---|---|---|
| API specification | OpenAPI 3.1 file for the V5 REST API | OpenAPI 3.x file and Swagger UI |
| Official libraries | Ruby, Node, Python, PHP | Not listed (it lists a CLI, an n8n node and an MCP package) |

| Team access | Team members and roles, Scale plan and up | Team members, Pro plan |
| Data protection | DPA available | GDPR, EU hosting (AWS Ireland), DPA |
These are the companies' own statements, not our measurements. The two rate limits use different time windows, so we show each as written.
Security and enterprise
| Bannerbear | RenderForm | |
|---|---|---|
| Single sign-on (SSO) | Enterprise plan | Not listed (Google and GitHub sign-in) |
| Audit logs | Enterprise plan | Not listed |
| Zero data retention | Enterprise plan | Not listed |
| Two-factor authentication | Scale plan and up | Not listed |
| Restrict team sign-up to your email domain | Yes | Not listed |
| Output to your own S3 bucket | Scale plan and up | Not listed (files on RenderForm's CDN) |
| Priority support | Enterprise plan | Not listed (custom plans by contact) |
| GDPR and DPA | Yes | Yes, with EU hosting |
Bottom line: both offer a DPA, and RenderForm states EU hosting. If your security review asks for SSO, audit logs or 2FA, Bannerbear lists them. They are not listed on RenderForm's website as of October 2026, so ask RenderForm directly before you rule it out.

Cost for the same job
One standard image per render, one output format, scale 1, no AI, and no base64 or cloud-drive inputs. Under these rules, 1 Bannerbear API credit and 1 RenderForm credit each make one image. (RenderForm can charge more credits for large images, base64 inputs or Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive links.) Monthly billing, cheapest public option:
| Images per month | Bannerbear | RenderForm | Lower list price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 250 | $49 (Automate) | $9 (Pro 250) | RenderForm |
| 1,000 | $49 (Automate) | $19 (Pro 1,000) | RenderForm |
| 2,500 | $149 (Scale 10k) | $39 (Pro 2,500) | RenderForm |
| 5,000 | $149 (Scale 10k) | $78 (Pro 2,500 plus a 2,500 pack) | RenderForm |
| 10,000 | $149 (Scale 10k) | $156 (Pro 2,500 plus three 2,500 packs) or $169 (Pro 10,000) | Bannerbear |
| 25,000 | $247 (Scale 30k) | $349 (25,000 pack) or $358 with Pro 250 | Bannerbear |
| 50,000 | $299 (Enterprise 50k) | $698 (two 25,000 packs); custom plans by contact | Bannerbear, on public list prices |
RenderForm sells one-time credit packs on top of its subscriptions, with no stated limit, so the 50,000 row uses two 25,000-credit packs. Packs are one-time purchases, not a monthly plan.
For plain image generation, RenderForm costs less up to several thousand images per month. At 1,000 images it is $19 against Bannerbear's $49. RenderForm Pro credits also roll over, and Bannerbear's API credits do not, so uneven monthly volume can favour RenderForm further. RenderForm does not charge for failed renders, and offers a 14-day refund if the service is unusable. Its dashboard also has a "Give feedback" option. A refund policy and an in-app feedback option are not listed on Bannerbear's website.
At 10,000 images per month and at the higher volumes in the table, Bannerbear's list price is lower: $149 against $156 to $169 at 10,000, and $247 against $349 at 25,000. At 50,000, Bannerbear is lower on public list prices, but RenderForm offers custom plans that are not public.
AI costs are not in the table, because the two products use different units. Bannerbear's AI features use a separate AI credit pool included with each plan. RenderForm's AI images use 20 extra credits each from the main pool.
We do not compare video prices, because the outputs differ in length, format and sound. Bannerbear charges 1 credit plus 2 credits per second of animation (60 fps doubles it). RenderForm charges 5 credits per started second, for 1 to 30 seconds of silent video, and refunds failed renders.
